What to do this weekend: 16-17 December
Christmas Market Fun
Hope you're not tired of Christmas markets yet, as we are sharing our favourites for this weekend:
- Cameron House Christmas Market - to get away from the Princes Street shopping crowds, we recommend a daytrip to the bonny banks of Loch Lomond. Cameron House is hosting a Christmas market all weekend with hot cocoa and mulled wine to warm you up, while doing the last bits of Christmas shopping.
- The Winter Barn - meanwhile in East Lothian, the Archerfield Walled Garden has set up the Rogue Village Winter Barn and a Christmas Fairy Tale of family light experience. Entry to the Winter Barn is free and for the light trail you can book your tickets here.
Christmas Waffels at Frisky
Overdosed with mince pies? Why not have waffels instead - Frisky Froyo has some excellent hot waffels (incuding gluten-free!) on offer with a range of different toppings. Our pick is matcha and white chocolate, but they do the classic melted Nutella and banana combo too. From next Monday they are also running the '7 Days of Friskmas' with a different deal every day up until Christmas Eve. To claim your treats, just pop in to Frisky Froyo at 13 Forrest Road and quote 'Merry Friskmas'!
16TH DECEMBER, SATURDAY
Christmas Big Table
Pizzeria 1926 and Slow Food Edinburgh are hosting a Christmassy Italian feast this Saturday. The Christmas Big Table kicks off at 12.30 and the menu includes a selection of Neapolitan street food starters to share, a pizza and a soft drink/beer. To book your space contact directly Pizzeria 1926.
17TH DECEMBER, SUNDAY
Home Alone at Filmhouse
Home Alone is one of our favourite Christmas movies, so we were pretty excited to learn that Filmhouse is screening it this Sunday. They are also showing a range of other Christmas movies, from Die Hard to The Muppet Christmas Carol.
Talking about Home Alone, Darwin & Gray does some excellent Christmas banners playing on one of our favourite lines from the movie: Merry Christmas ya filthy animal.
Have a nice weekend!
