What to do this weekend: 30-31 December
30TH DECEMBER, SATURDAY
Milk Money at Leith Market
If you are hosting a Hogmanay party, this is your chance to visit Leith Mrket and grab a few pre-mixed cocktails for your event from Milk Money. They even have a Hogmanay Party Box featuring some yummy Aelder licquor from the Buck & Birch guys.
Traditionally the Torchlight Procession marks the opening of Edinburgh's New Year celebrations. This year's procession will have three starting points: St Giles Street, North Bridge and South Bridge and you will need to select one of these spots if purchasing a ticket. The procession will make its way down the Royal Mile towards Holyrood Palace, ending with a spectacular fireworks finale. Also, to mark the launch of Scotland's Year of Young People in 2018, at the end of the procession you will see torches spell out one word, #ScotWord, chosen by the young people of Scotland answering the question “What makes you most proud to live in Scotland?”.
If you feel like having not one, but two parties this weekend, we can recommend some cool pre-Hogmanay parties happening in town. The popular Hyde & Son at George Street is hosting their usual Locke Sessions this Saturday, while the SKY Bar at Bread Street is throwing a SKY Bar Silent Disco.
31ST DECEMBER, SUNDAY
Say goodbye to 2017 and welcome 2018 at the traditional Hogmanay Street Party at Princes Street or watch the Hogmanay Concert from the heart of Princes Street Gardens, overlooking the main stage! If you are looking for a free Hogmanay fireworks viewing spot, here are our recommendations, in no particular order of preference: Bruntsfield Links, Blackford Hill, Arthurs Seat.
Happy New Year!
