What to do this weekend: 23-24 September
Edinburgh Doors Open Days
Edinburgh Doors Open Days is on this weekend with a bunch of new venues added to the programme - we cannot wait to explore! Here are our top picks, noting some of the venues do require advance booking:
- Rock House at Calton Hill - get a sneak peek on the website of Dickins
- The Gardener's Lodge - yes, this is the lodge in Princes Street Gardens
- Private gardens of the New Town: East, Central and West Queen Street Gardens, Regent Royal and Calton Terrace Gardens, Bank Garden and Dean Garden
- Vine Trust Barge - have a look inside here
Visit a modernist ruin
Meanwhile near Helensburgh the beautiful modernist ruin of St Peter's Seminary will also be open (with advance booking only). We were lucky to visit the complex during the popular Hinterland event back in March 2016 and can thoroughly recommend the trip. If you missed out this time, sign up for their newsletter to learn about future events.
Colony of Artists
The annual Colony of Artists is back for the 12th time this weekend. The Abbeyhill colonies and resident artists will open their doors for the public and you can visit as much as 32 of them. There will be a range of accompanying events at the Safari Lounge, the Century General Store and at Abbelyhill Primary School.
Have a nice weekend!
