What to do this weekend: 6-7 January
Happy new year and welcome to the first weekend guide of 2018! Hope you all had a great holiday and you are looking forward to what the new year brings.
Looks like temperatures will drop well below zero this weekend, so I gathered a list of my favourite exhibitions currently on display in the 'burgh, which will keep you indoors and cozy.
- Turner in January (free entry) - the annual display of Turner's watercolours returns to the Scottish National Gallery, don't miss it.
- A New Era: Scottish Modern Art 1900-1950 - we may have already recommended this exhibition at the Modern Two, but we do love modern art.
- Francis Bacon (free entry) - a tiny display, but provides a rare opportunity to look at a few original Bacons.
- When We Were Young: Photographs of Childhood from the National Galleries of Scotland (free entry) - we love old photos and this exhibition at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery features even some daguerreotypes from the 1840s.
6TH JANUARY, SATURDAY
7TH JANUARY, SUNDAY
Join Historic Scotland for a guided walk of Holyrood Park. The walk is free, but booking is essential via email - if you missed out there are more walks in February and March. As a bonus, the Janurary and March walks are also dog friendly!
Have a nice weekend!
