What to do this weekend: 6-7 October
There is a certain chill in the air, the leaves are turning into beautiful shades of yellow, orange and red and the daylight hours are getting shorter - which can only mean one thing: the season of outdoor light installations has finally arrived!
The Enchanted Forest
Perthshire is particularly beautiful in autumn and the annual Enchanted Forest light show near Pitlochry is the perfect excuse for a daytrip to the area. This year's show is themed around nature by night 'Of the Wild' and as usual it is set up in the beautiful Faskally Woods. We visited the Enchanted Forest a few years ago for 'Shimmer' and can highly recommend the experience. Remember to book quickly, tickets are selling out fast!
Quest for Oz
Quest for Oz is a relatively new light show, returning to Drummohr House and grounds near Musselburgh for the second year running. As you can guess, this year's show was inspired by the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the illuminations are brought to you by Vision Mechanics.
6TH OCTOBER, SATURDAY
Edinburgh Coffee Festival
This Saturday Edinburgh's Corn Exchange will be hosting the annual Edinburgh Coffee Festival, welcoming both coffee and tea lovers. Exhibitors include Brewlab, Cairngorm Coffee, Eteaket, Obadiah and Dear Green amongst others. Apart from delicious coffee and tea, you can expect talks, tastings, masterclasses and the 2018 Scottish Aeropress Championships.
M&S Taste Trail
Marks & Spencer are celebrating a 100 years in Scotland with a food fest. Did you know that the very first Scottish M&S outlet opened in Dundee in 1918 and the most recent in Oban in 2018? This Saturday's M&S Taste Trail on Edinburgh's Castle Street will be also celebrating Scottish producers. Get there early to grab some M&S discounts.
7TH OCTOBER, SUNDAY
Art on Sunday
The most recent major exhibition opening in the 'burgh features the works of the French artist Toulouse-Lautrec at the Scottish National Gallery. It is titled 'Pin-ups. Toulouse-Lautrec and the Art of Celebrity' with the 19th century Parisian celebrity culture taking central stage. I'm having a sneak peak at Friday's preview session and will let you know how it was through Insta stories at @edienthusiast.
Have a nice weekend!
