ALL WEEKEND

Pizza Geeks Opening Weekend

If you are a fellow Dalry resident, you'll be glad to hear: Pizza Geeks is opening this Friday at the spot where Sushiya used to be (19 Dalry Road). To celebrate the launch, there will be competitions, giveaways and of course plenty of pizza! Join the Facebook event here.

Find your Autumn Wonderland

If you follow me on Instagram at @edienthusiast, you are probably aware of my favourite autumn pastime of spotting Virginia creeper and Boston ivy in the 'burgh. Did you know they are not the same, but different plants? You can tell the two apart by counting the lobes on the leaves. Virginia creeper has five while Boston ivy has three. And here are my favourite places you can spot them - but hurry, the red leaves might be gone soon.

  • Liberton Kirk - possibly the most Instagram famous red leaves in the burgh, Liberton Kirk looks stunning dressed up in autumn colours.
  • Edinburgh's West End -  find the prettiest corner of the West End between Douglas Gardens and Rothesay Place.
  • Lauriston Castle - the keeper's cottage at Lauriston Castle looks particularly pretty in autumn.
  • Carlowrie Castle -  the dreamiest wedding venue, especially at this time of the year. Forever dreaming about having the chance to photograph it.

13TH OCTOBER, SATURDAY

Marchmont House Public Tour

Marchmont House is a Grade A listed Palladian mansion, just 40 miles away from the 'burgh. They usually have public open days once a month hosted by the curator and lasting about 2-2.5 hours. Places are strictly limited and must be booked in advance via email. If you cannot make this Saturday's tour, the remaining tour dates in 2018 are 24th November and 15th December.

14TH OCTOBER, SUNDAY

The Great Time Game

Imagine a giant board game set up in the middle of Castle Street - oh wait, you don't have to imagine it, it's really there all weekend. Play for free between 10am and 6pm and you can win some great prizes from dinners out and cocktails to fashion and beauty treats. Good luck!

Have a nice weekend!
