What to do this weekend: 24-25 November
Historic Scotland Ticket Giveaway
Have you booked your free tickets yet to your favourite Historic Scotland venues? The ticket giveaway is open until 5pm on 23 November and you can visit as many venues as you like during the weekend - just remember to print your tickets. We are booked in to visit Huntingtower Castle and Castle Campbell in Perthshire and Edinburgh Castle. What are your picks?
Christmas at the Botanics
Christmas magic returns to the Botanics between 23 November until 29 December. Visit the impressive Cathedral of Light along the beech hedge, the Scented Fire Garden and look out for Santa and his Elves too. Make sure to book your tickets your advance here and why not combine it with a festive dinner at the Garden's Gateway Restaurant.
Edinburgh Art Fair
The annual Edinburgh Art Fair is back at the Corn Exchange for the entire weekend. This year our friend, Soo Burnell is among the exhibitors with her stunning 'Poolside' series - beautiful photographs of Victorian pools in Edinburgh and beyond. We already have her Dalry Pool photo hanging on our wall, but I'm forever dreaming about having more of her Wes Anderson inspired pictures.
24TH NOVEMBER, SATURDAY
The Collective Opening
After 2 years of careful restoration of the City Observatory, The Collective contemporary art gallery is finally opening its doors on the top of Calton Hill. The complex will also house the restaurant The Lookout by Gardener's Cottage with breathtaking views guaranteed.
Edinburgh's city centre is fully dressed in Christmassy decorations, and apart from the Christmas Markets there are also some Christmas pop-ups we think are worth mentioning:
- Lolli Pop-up Design Market at White Stuff featuring Scotland's top artisan makers.
- Christmas Fair at the Century General Store, another chance to support local makers.
- Traquair Christmas Opening at the Scottish Borders with craft stalls, festive singing, mulled wine and toasted chestnuts.
25TH NOVEMBER, SUNDAY
A Coffee for your Thoughts
Fancy a free cuppa? All you need to do is to share your thoughts how you envisage Edinburgh in 2050, in exchange for a free cup of coffee. Visit Brew Lab this Sunday to redeem your cuppa - the offer is open for EH residents and only a limited number of cups are available, so be quick! Read more about the Edinburgh 2050 vision campaign and share your vision online here.
Have a nice weekend!
