What to do this weekend: 3-4 March
Last weekend of Glasgow Film Festival
It's the last weekend of the Glasgow Film Fest and spending it at the cinema means you will escape the Beast from the East (here I'm referring to the white stuff which keeps falling from the sky). Also if you are a fellow cinema lover, we recommend you pay a visit. Check out the full programme here but also keep an eye on their website in case there are any cancellations due to the weather.
Weather conditions allowing, how about braving the elements and going for a short winter walk in your hood? Make sure you dress up warm with lots of layers, appropriate footwear and waterproof clothing. The day when the Beast from the East hit Edinburgh, between snowstorms we went for a beautiful snowy walk by the Union Canal which is just a few minutes away from us. The snow makes you see everything in a completely new light and (statistically speaking) you might not see this much snow again in the next couple of years!
3RD MARCH, SATURDAY
Have you heard about Edinburgh's newest distillery called Sweetdram? No, it's not another gin distillery, but something rather special - their juniper-free botanical spirit is called Escubac. Edinburgh Food Studio has teamed up with the guys behind Sweetdram and this weekend they are hosting a special dinner where each course is paired with delicious cocktails.
Museum of Childhood reopens
After 5 months of refurbishment, the Museum of Childhood will finally reopen this Saturday. Did you know that the museum dates back to 1955 and when it opened it was the world's first museum dedicated to the history of childhood? Following the refurbishment newly displayed items will include Buzz Lightyear and other rately-seen objects. You will also find a new interactive space at the ground floor and a film area.
4TH MARCH, SUNDAY
Building a network of young food-leaders
Are you aged 18-35 and want sustainable food future for Scotland? Head to Custom Lane this Sunday to meet like-minded people and learn how to get involved with the Slow Food Youth Network in Scotland. There will be guest speakers too and plenty of networking opportunities. Register via Eventbrite.
Have a nice weekend!
