What to do this weekend: 24-25 March
Book your festival tickets
Set your alarm clocks, the 2018 Edinburgh International Festival bookings open to the public this weekend - to be exact at 10am on Saturday. EIF is one of our favourite summer festivals during the summer and we already picked some events we definitely want to attend. Here's our shortlist:
- The Opening Event: this year's title is Five Telegrams and further detail on how to book tickets will be announced on 25 June.
- Theatre: we're planning to bring along the whole family to watch Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot at the Lyceum.
- Classical Music: I was pretty pleased to find plenty of Chopin in this year's programme. Queyras and Melnikov will also play Beethoven and Rachmaninov, Brautigam will combine it with Mendelsson and Aimard chose Debussy and Messiaen.
Check out the full programme here or pick up a bright yellow festival brochure in town.
Trumpet Shop Pop-up
You might remember the Trumpet Shop previously located in George Street until December 2017. No, they don't sell trumpets. Instead, they sell some fab vintage posters and they will be popping up at the Eteaket Concept Store at Rose Street this weekend. This pop-up could not have come better for us, as we are looking for some prints for our kitchen. See you there!
24TH MARCH, SATURDAY
Get to know Edinburgh
Neim Creative House is hosting its launch event this Saturday and wants you to get to know your city and its treasures it hides. We are not too sure what to expect, but it looks like a fun game of wandering around Edinburgh and meeting fellow Edinburgh enthusiasts. Everyone can participate and you only need a mobile phone with mobile data. Read some further detail on the event here and make sure to charge your phone.
25TH MARCH, SUNDAY
Are you on the hunt for some lovely midcentury pieces for your pad? Expo, Edinburgh's Mid 20th Century Market returns to the Out of the Blue Drill Hall this Sunday. Expect furniture, glass, ceramics, fabric and art. Exhibitors include: L'Atelier Vintage, Iconic Edinburgh and many others.
Have a nice weekend!
