What to do this weekend: 16-17 June
Film Fest in the City
In the run-up to the 72nd Edinburgh International Film Festival, Film Fest in the City returns to St Andrew Square Garden with plenty of marmalade (including sandwiches from Mackays Dundee Marmalade) and free screenings of Paddington and Paddington 2. If you prefer black and white classics, come along to watch Casablanca or check out the list of other screenings here. Fingers crossed for blue sky and sunshine!
If the weather proves to be too windy, you can escape the elements and stay indoors at the Fruitmarket Gallery. They are hosting their annual contemporary craft and design fair all weekend and entry is free. Expect fashion, homeware, print and illustration. There will also be designer led events and workshops, including a talk featuring one of my favourite Scottish designers, Karen Mabon.
16TH JUNE, SATURDAY
Peonies and Prosecco
The Binny Plants nursery and Scotland's Garden Scheme is hosting a peonies and prosecco event this Saturday in West Lothian between 3-6pm. Tours will be going on throughout the afternoon and will last about 30 minutes. Peonies can be bought before or after the tours and prosecco will be served too.
17TH JUNE, SUNDAY
Dean Gardens Open Day
Did you know, there are over 30 or so private gardens in and around Edinburgh's New Town and they celebrated their 250th anniversary last year? We feel privileged to have visited a couple of them during various open days or special events over the years. This Sunday one of them, the beautiful Dean Gardens is having an open day between 2-5pm, don't miss the chance to have a sneak peak of it for a small entrance fee. The garden will be open as part of the Scotland Garden Scheme and the money goes towards charity.
Have a nice weekend!
