ALL WEEKEND

Third Weekend of Doors Open Days

September is the month of Doors Open Days is Scotland and although the Edinburgh version is not until the end of the month, there is plenty on offer - making it the perfect excuse for a daytrip from the 'burgh. This weekend's participating regions include: Glasgow, Aberdeenshire, Falkirk, Fife West, Caithness & Sutherland, Eastern & Highland Perthshire and Stirling. Earlier this month we were kindly given a preview opportunity of some Glaswegian venues and our picks are: the Glasgow Art Club, Trinity House, the Anderston Kelvingrove Church - you can read more about our preview adventures here with full itineraries.

Alternatively if you happen to be in mainland Europe this weekend, you might want to check out the European Heritage Days happening in major European cities, for example in Budapest.

15TH SEPTEMBER, SATURDAY

V&A Dundee Opens

The day has finally arrived and the acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma's stunning building opens to the public this Saturday with a major temporary exhibition featuring ocean liners. At the centre of the Scottish Design Galleries' permanent exhibits you will find the magnificent Charles Rennie Mackintosh Oak Room beautifully restored. We're so excited to check out the new museum soon!

16TH SEPTEMBER, SUNDAY

Harvest Festival

The annual harvest fest returns to the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh this weekend. Expect music, tasters, fun activities and plenty of gardening advice. While at the Botanics, why not check out the RBGE diploma show, a showcase of works from the RBGE Botanical Illustration, Herbology and Plantsmanship courses. The exhibition will be on display at the Fletcher Building.

Have a nice weekend!
