What to do this weekend: 18-19 May
Yay, it’s the first weekend of the season at Jupiter Artland. In addition to the popular permanent collection, there are also new temporary exhibitions and various accompanying programmes in the calendar - very much worth the revisit even if you have previously been to Jupiter.
If you are looking for a full day itinerary for exploring modern art in Edinburgh, you can read here a blog post I’ve written in collaboration with the Art Fund last year. Did you know that you get free entry to Jupiter Artland with the National Art Pass?
18TH MAY, SATURDAY
World Whisky Day
The Ivy on the Square has partnered with award winning malt whisky liqueur Bruadar to create a limited edition cocktail menu. The exclusive cocktails are available until Monday, 20th May. The special drinks menu features The Gaelic Dream with raspberry puree and lavender, Sloe and Smooth which a twist on a classic gin fizz and Ruby Malt with Martini and orange bitters. Cheers!
Jazz at The Barony
Last weekend we were kindly invited to visit The Barony on Broughton Street. The historic pub dates from 1896 and it still boasts beautiful period features. We sampled their gastropub menu and can thoroughly recommend booking in for a Saturday lunch - just make sure to leave space in your tummy for dessert, their sticky toffee pudding is particularly divine! You may want to time your booking around the live jazz sessions which start from 3pm on Saturdays.
19TH MAY, SUNDAY
Colonies Yard Sale
The Stockbridge colonies are holding a yard sale this Sunday between 2-5pm - check out the Facebook event here. Expect home baking, toys, books, general household items, artwork and clothes. The area is also a lovely place for a stroll along the Water of Leith.
Have a nice weekend!
