Hi, I'm Ildiko

Welcome to the Weekend Enthusiast! A collection of travel, lifestyle, restaurant reviews and home of the Edinburgh Enthusiast.

ALL WEEKEND

Edinburgh Art Festival

One of our favourite festivals, the Edinburgh Art Festival kicks off the ‘festival month’ this weekend. Major exhibitions of the fest include a Nathan Coley installation at the Parliament hall, Bridget Riley at the Royal Scottish Academy and Cut and Paste: 400 Years of Collage at the Modern Two. Signature events such as the Art Lates will make a return too along with a new Night walk for Edinburgh.

27TH JULY, SATURDAY

Canteen Street Food Festival

The Canteen street food fest returns to Archerfield Walled Garden this Saturday between 12-6pm. Stallholders include Harajuku Kitchen, Herringbone, Mimi’s Bakehouse and others. This month’s theme is vintage with clothes, furniture, homewares, records, flowers and plants and there will be a vintage car display too.

28TH JULY, SUNDAY

Gateway at Jupiter Artland

Jupiter Artland finally has a swimming pool! Yes, you read it right - the newest piece of artwork of Jupiter is titled Gateway by Joana Vasconcelos. The intricately designed pool sits within a landscaped formal garden and it is accompanied by a delicate glass dome space. Those lucky enough to grab tickets for the bathing sessions in August are in for a treat. We might prefer to observe the pool from a distance, afterall Scotttish summers are not famous for being hot. (Saying that the last few days have been super humid!)

Broadwoodside Open Day

Broadwoodside is a beautiful garden in Gifford, East Lothian and it is holding its annual charity open day this Sunday as part of the Scotland’s Garden Scheme. Opening hours are between 11am-5pm and entry is £6. Read more about the history of Broadwoodside here.

Have a nice weekend!
