ALL WEEKEND

For Foodies

Not too sure where to dine this weekend? We gathered a list of recent openings in the ‘burgh along with some specials at existing faves:

  • Noto - the second restaurant of Stuart Ralston, also behind the popular Aizle. Noto is located at Thistle Street and promises a New York inspired restaurant with a love for Asian cuisine. A glance at the sample menu made us book in swiftly - we’re popping in this Friday and can’t wait.

  • Nor’ Loft - opened last week on the top floor of the new Market Street Hotel, Edinburgh’s very first member of Design Hotels. We aready popped in to Norloft to escape the festival crowds and enjoy the beautiful Edinburgh skyline. It’s a champagne bar but also offers breakfast, afternoon tea and small plates.

  • The Ivy on the Square - the popular restaurant at St Andrews Square has a limited edition dish and cocktail on offer in August, themed around the Scottish tradition of the Glorious Twelfth: the Glorious Twelfth shepherd’s pie and Glen Tanar Sour cocktail, the latter created using Naked Grouse whisky. Alternatively, why not try their limited edition Butterfly Afternoon Tea.

Craft Scotland Summer Show

The annual Craft Scotland Summer Show is back at White Stuff - you can find the exhibition and fair featuring 41 talented Scottish makers on the shop’s second floor. Expect jewellery, ceramics and textiles. Browse the full list of makers here.

16TH AUGUST, FRIDAY

The Bugle Live

This recommendation is by Mr Enthusiast, who often listens to The Bugle podcast during a roadtrip. The Bugle is coming to the Fringe this Friday at 9pm at The Stand’s New Town Theatre. If you can’t make it this Friday, there’s another event next Monday 19 August at 1.30pm. Book your tickets here.

17TH AUGUST, SATURDAY

Flower Farmers’ Big Weekend

To celebrate the Flower Farmers’ Big Weekend, Pyrus Botanicals are opening up their stunning walled garden in the heart of East Lothian (about 30 minutes drive away from Edinburgh) and you can cut your own meadow flowers. Lovecrumbs will be there too, offering tea and cakes. Book your tickets via Eventbrite.

18TH AUGUST, SUNDAY

Open House Sale

Meanhile in Glasgow’s Bishopbriggs I Am Nomad is opening up her stunning home for an open house sale this Sunday between 10am-4pm - the deal is 10% off everything and selected items up to 40% off.
