Weekend 2 of Doors Open Days

Doors Open Days Scotland turns 30 this year and they are celebrating with the largest range of free events across the entire month of September. The second weekend open days will feature several cities and regions: Aberdeen, Argyll and Bute, Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway, East Dunbartonshire, Fife Central, Black Isle, Perth & Kinross, Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire. Our pick is the underrated but beautiful region of Dumfries and Galloway, only a short drive from Edinburgh. Perfect for a daytrip or a weekend away. Tip: stay at Nithbank House if you’re after a special treat.

Studies at 17

Jono Smart, Emily Stephen and Hayley McCirrick are celebrating the opening of their pop-up exhibition at Space at 17 in Stockbridge. Pop in between 10am and 6pm to meet the makers and shop their beautiful creations.

7TH SEPTEMBER, SATURDAY

Botanic Cottage Open Saturday

On every first Saturday of a month between March and October, the Botanic Cottage is open for visitors just for a few hours. This Saturday’s opening hours are between 2-4pm and entry to the cottage is free. If the weather gets a bit rainy, you can always visit the glasshouses to warm up.

8TH SEPTEMBER, SUNDAY

Chamber Music at Penicuik

An afternoon of chamber music with Michelle Dierx and Liivi Arder in the Penicuik art gallery surrounded by art works. The programme features Beethoven and Prokofiev. Book your tickets via Eventbrite here.
